How did I get here?

My road to becoming a life coach started with the decision in my early 30s to give up the life I had on Nantucket and move to New York City to start fresh. Once the initial excitement wore off, the realities of making my way in this highly competitive metropolis set in.

  • I slowly and steadily went broke

  • I endured two terrible relationships

  • I lost my way professionally

  • All the while, I pretended that I was fine and that I just needed to work harder and stay positive.

Everything finally fell apart in 2017. Most people watch their life fall apart at least once in some way or another, but not everyone uses it as an opportunity. When I returned to Nantucket in December of 2017, I was a shell of the person I was when I left. There was nothing to be done but start over, but this time I committed to building resiliency and self-awareness into whatever was next for me.

  • Be protective of my values

  • Build and nurture my community

Due to a fateful series of events, in the late fall of 2018, I found myself on a solo road trip from San Diego to Nantucket that proved to be just what I needed to start rebuilding my new life. More than anything, this meant making new and sometimes hard choices for myself.

  • Choosing to walk away from some long-term friendships and connections, so I could make room for a more supportive community

  • Being intentional about what work I accepted, so I could created long-term opportunities, even if it created short-term discomfort.

  • Saying goodbye to our community and friends and relocating to the Berkshires to start a new life that would be sustainable and secure.

Though all these choices were not easy at the time and had meaningful consequences, the long term results were worth the short-term pain.

This is the work I share with my clients. Finding the courage to be honest with ourselves, so we can make new choices that will have lasting benefits.
